Twister Rave – The Skip It Game

Product Review – Twister Rave

When the original Twister game was released to the                            BeFunky_download (2).png
public in the mid-1960s, it captured people’s
imagination and attention like few games had before.
It was the first to be released that used actual
people as the game pieces, and it has remained
one of the most popular games since. The Twister
Rave series is nothing like the original game;
however it does retain one similarity. Like the
original, individual’s bodies are the primary
game piece. Members of the series include several
varieties of the Twister Rave Rings, the Hoopz Game,
the Stickz Game, and the familiar Skip-It Game.

Let’s take a look at some of the features

The most recognizable member of the Twister Rave series is the Skip-It Game. Adults will remember it as the toy that children placed around their ankles and then skipped over in a sort of single-player jump rope. The concept of the modern version is the same with added lights that display different colors depending upon how long the player can keep spinning. The Rave Rings have a variety of different games that involve snapping, clapping, and grabbing, and the Hoopz Game includes two hoops that drape over the player’s arm to be spun. The Stickz Game looks like a pair of nun chucks and can be spun and twirled around in various games. All members of the Rave series light up depending upon the length and success of various tricks performed.

How Much?

All varieties of the Rave Rings are $7.99. The Stickz Game is $9.99. The Skip-It Game is $19.99. And the Hoopz Game is $14.99.

Things We Like About Twister Rave

In an age where so many toys are uninvolved, sedentary experiences, it is refreshing to see some that still require vigorous movement and coordination. The Rave series provides a fun source of exercise and helps kids work on and improve their hand-eye coordination, endurance, and balance.

Things We Did Not Like About Twister Rave

There isn’t much to dislike about the Twister Rave series. The only potential issue may be with the Hoopz. Since they are not attached to arms while being spun, without proper care they may fly off and damage surrounding items.

Who Would Buy Twister Rave?

The Twister Rave series is rated for all kids from ages 8 and up. Aside from that, energetic kids looking for an outlet and excuse to run and jump will love the series!

All Twister products carry comprehensive warranties that protect against defects in workmanship.

Is Twister Rave Worth the Money?

For only $7.99 to $19.99, kids can jump, clap, and spin their way into a fun and exciting time. The price tag for that is well worth it!

Where Can I Buy Twister Rave?

All major department stores and toy retailers carry the entire Rave line. The series can also be purchased from Hasbro’s main website ( This toy will also be available at toy stores and online retailers such as Amazon.

Product Review – Necomimi

The science of analyzing and utilizing brain waves                              BeFunky_download (1).png
has advanced by huge amounts in only the last few
years. Scientists have created devices that allow
paralyzed individuals to control machines with
their brains to help them perform functions they
were long unable to. Almost every scientific
device ever invented was eventually transformed
into an entertainment tool; video game systems
are the result of computers originally created
for NASA and the military, for instance. In
this case, one of the first devices to utilize
brain wave technology is Necomimi, the brainwave
cat ears!

Let’s take a look at some of the features

On the surface, Necomimi appears to be a simple set of cat ears users wear on their heads. Within the simple appearance, however, lies a very sophisticated system of sensors and motors. The sensors are placed in strategic locations on user’s foreheads and earlobes to accurately read and interpret their brain waves. The motors engage to move the ears in response to the waves it senses. If the wearer is alert, the ears stand straight up. If excited, they wiggle around. And if relaxed, the ears lay down on top of the wearer’s head. The motions are intended to be very much reminiscent of an actual cat, and they succeed admirably in that goal.

How Much?

The base Necomimi set of ears is $69.99, and additional skins, such as Obsidian Black and Jungle Leopard, can be purchased for $19.99.

Things We Like About Necomimi

The science behind Necomimi is truly amazing and clearly displays just how far the science of brain wave technology has come in such a short time. Not even taking into account the science the ears utilize, though, they just look incredibly cute. When the wearer is alert and attentive, the ears stand up straight just like a cat. They would be perfect for parties, cosplayers, and they could add a whole new layer to the favorite cat costume in Halloween.

Things We Did Not Like About Necomimi

The ears run off of 4 AAA batteries, and the more active a person’s brain is, the quicker those batteries will drain and need to be replaced. Depending on the person and their typical state of mind, they might end up needing to replace them fairly often.

Who Would Buy Necomimi?

It’s a particular type of person that would be interested in Necomimi. Cosplayers and lovers of cats or Japanese culture will fall over themselves to buy the adorable ears.

Necomimi carries a limited 30 day warranty protecting against all defects in workmanship. Purchasers of defective products should ship them in for a replacement.

Is Necomimi Worth the Money?

Whether Necomimi is worth the price is dependent on the person, really. For those who love this type of unique device, $69.99 is a bargain, while, for others, it’s prohibitively expensive.

Where Can I Buy Necomimi?

Consumers can purchase Necomimi from the main company website ( and at major retail stores such as Toys R Us and Amazon.

More Customer Reviews for Necomimi

Those who have experienced the Necomimi brainwave cat ears have fallen in love with the adorable look and motions and the impressive science behind it!

Disney Infinity

Product Review – Disney Infinity

The transmedia gaming movement which combines real                                   BeFunky_download.png
world toys and objects with video game platforms
has become one of the more popular trends of the
last year. A number of consoles and systems have
either been released or are scheduled to be later
in the year, and they range from simplistic systems
to complex, involved experiences. Disney Infinity is
one such system that offers a wide array of components
and seems complex but is, in reality, one of the simplest
and best transmedia systems available.

Let’s take a look at some of the features

One of the main attractions of Disney Infinity is the depth and variety available. The base of the system plugs into any current-gen gaming platform, including the Nintendo 3DS and Windows PCs, and the plethora of available figurines that can be plugged in add to and change the experience. The system doesn’t need a character to be plugged in to function, though; instead, it enters the Toybox mode which gives complete freedom to create new worlds within the game. Each character can be plugged in, and each set of characters have their own worlds based in their respective movies. Players can even collect power discs that can be connected to individual figurines that will add customizations to said character. For instance, plugging the rocketpack disc into the Buzz Lightyear character will give him the rocketpack. Players can mix and match the discs, giving one character’s equipment to another.

How Much?

The system is due to be released in August of 2013 and will cost $75 for the base package. Additional characters will cost $12.50 each and will include each character’s power discs.

Things We Like About Disney Infinity

The potential for completing missions, fighting monsters, and exploring the world with Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, Woody from Toy Story, Simba from the Lion King, and Ralph from Wreck-It Ralph sounds like awesome fun. Plus, the ability to mix and match power discs, giving Buzz Lightyear’s rocketpack to Jack Sparrow, for instance, promises to add a depth of creativity and fun unmatched by any other product available. The open-ended Toybox lets players create worlds within the Disney universe which can then be played and promises to let players truly stretch their creative muscles.

Things We Did Not Like About Disney Infinity

There isn’t really much to dislike about Infinity! The potential for creativity is nearly limitless, as is the potential for collecting characters.

Who Would Buy Disney Infinity?

Fans who would relish the chance to play as their favorite Disney characters will love Infinity!

While not officially announced, the system will almost certainly have a thorough warranty protecting against defects and similar issues.

Is Disney Infinity Worth the Money?

With the sheer amount of included content as well as the potential for continued expansion, $75 seems a small price to pay.

Where Can I Buy Disney Infinity?

Upon release, Infinity will be available at all major retailers including Walmart and Amazon.

More Customer Reviews for Disney Infinity

Despite the fact that the system is due for release in August, customer anticipation is already high, and rave reviews have been submitted across the board!

The Pebble Smartwatch

Product Review – Pebble Smartwatch

Smart watches – watches that have functionality                                              BeFunky_images.png
beyond simply timekeeping – have been around since
the 1970s. One of the most recognizable examples
was the Casio calculator watch every kid wanted
on his wrist during math class. Smart watches
from then bear little resemblance to the modern
day variety, and the Pebble E-Paper Watch is the
most advanced one to date.

Let’s take a look at some of the features

The Pebble Smartwatch, available in white, black, and red colors, connects to Android or iOS smartphones using a Bluetooth connection. In addition to displaying the time in a plethora of different programmable watch faces, the Pebble can display email alerts, text messages, incoming calls, Twitter feeds, weather alerts, and much more. A wide variety of apps can be downloaded onto the Pebble, including running and biking apps that use GPS to track distance and average speed, golf range finders to help land that perfect shot, music programs to control the songs coming from your device, and many more. The Pebble’s code is open-source, and new apps are being released almost constantly.

How Much?

The Pebble Smartwatch costs $150. It is schedule to be released in either April or May.

Things We Like About Pebble Smartwatch

Initially, it seems redundant to have a watch that merely displays information a smartphone already does, but actually using the Pebble eliminates that thought almost immediately. The watch has a vibrating motor inside that shakes to inform wearers of alerts, incoming calls, and more. The fact that it operates on open source code is excellent as that ensures huge variety in apps, and high quality as many people troubleshoot them. The convenience and functionality the Pebble offers really is unmatched by anything on the market today.

Things We Did Not Like About Pebble Smartwatch

If anything, the Pebble’s aesthetics are not terribly impressive. It’s fairly plain on the outside, though it makes up for it on the inside.

Who Would Buy Pebble Smartwatch?

Techies are at the forefront of the smart watch boom, though they are by no means the only people interested. Anyone who feels tethered to their smartphone will love the Pebble.

The Pebble carries a limited 1 year warranty covering all defects in workmanship and materials.

Is Pebble Smartwatch Worth the Money?

While $150 may seem like a lot, it’s a fraction of the cost of more expensive, luxury watches, and those only tell the time. With the current functionality already available, and the potential for unlimited expansion, the price is very much justified.

Where Can I Buy Pebble Smartwatch?

The Pebble is currently only available for purchase through the company’s main website. They are currently accepting preorders scheduled for shipping in April-May. The Pebble Smartwatch should also be available at major retailers like Best Buy and online at Amazon.

More Customer Reviews for Pebble Smartwatch

Pebble was funded by the single most popular Kickstarter fundraiser in the site’s history, raising over $10 million. So far, over 85,000 preorders have been purchased, and everyone who has had the opportunity to try it has offered rave reviews!

Romo Robot

Product Review – Romo Robot

A huge number of toys and devices that utilize                                          BeFunky_download (2).png
smartphones have already been released this year,
and many more are on the way. While most of those
toys incorporate smartphones in new and exciting
ways, none of them convert the smartphones into
actual robots. Romo Robot is the one exception.
Installing the free app onto your iPhone or iPod
Touch and then plugging the device into the Romo
station transforms a lowly phone or MP3 player
into a fun and lovable robot.

Let’s take a look at some of the features

Romo Robot was designed to be the first robot accessible to everyone, and his functionality reflects that. Romo has facial recognition that follows you as you move around. Users can tell him to follow specific people, run away from them, try and get their attention, and more. He is a learning robot and can be trained to complete new and exciting tasks. Users can control Romo from anywhere in the world with nearly any Apple product via the app, and his view from the front-facing camera is displayed on the controlling device. He includes several games users can play that will help him continue learning and evolving.

How Much?

Set to be released in the summer, the Romo app will be free, and the base will cost $149.99.

Things We Like About Romo Robot

What’s not to love about the world’s first personal robot? Romo is incredibly personable and displays a huge range of emotions, all of which are adorable. The fact that users can control him from anywhere in the world is amazing and has nearly unlimited potential for connecting people. Romotive, the company behind Romo, plans to release new updates once a month; the updates will teach Romo new behavior and will continue to make him even more fun. The base recharges rapidly, and it charges your device while it’s plugged in.

Things We Did Not Like About Romo Robot

Really, the only potential dislike is the cost, though, considering Romo is the first personal robot available to the masses, $149.99 seems a small price to pay. Parents will want to supervise any young children during their interactions with Romo.

Who Would Buy Romo Robot?

Romo is only compatible with iOS devices, at least for the foreseeable future, so iPhone and iPod Touch users will be the only ones purchasing him for a while. Aside from that, anyone who loves robots will love Romo!

Romotive provides a full 1 year warranty against any defects in workmanship or internal parts.

Is Romo Robot Worth the Money?

Romo is a personal robot that can learn, connect people around the world, recognize individual faces and interact with them, and much more. With that in mind, $149.99 is well worth it.

Where Can I Buy Romo Robot?

He is set to be released in the summer and will initially be available through Romotive’s online store. They are currently accepting preorders. This product will also be available at major retailers such as Amazon and Walmart.

iDiscover App Activity Table

Product Review – iDiscover App Activity Table       BeFunky_download (1).png

The new iDiscover App Activity Table from VTech
is everything a play table could need and more.
By using an iPad or tablet in the centre of the
table it makes it much more interactive and
educational than a regular activity table. The
table also has a protective screen to cover the tablet.

The table has many different features for children to enjoy including:

•         Piano keys that are different colors.

•         A number roller and an alphabet roller.

•         A steering wheel complete with a horn and a gear stick.

•         Buttons of basic colored shapes.

These features will interact with different apps that come with the free downloadable app pack. This pack will include 6 apps that will interact with what the child plays with.

How Much?

The iDiscover App Activity Table is due to retail at around $50.

Who would buy the iDiscover App Activity Table?

The activity table is aimed at young children between the ages of 9 – 36 months old.

Things we like about iDiscover App Activity Table

The table is made up of different and bright colored parts that would appeal to young children. It helps with cognitive learning as on some games children have to relate what they see on the screen to something on the table. One good feature is that the screen will rotate to face the child, so when playing the driving game with the steering wheel the screen will face the right direction. So far the iDiscover App Activity Table is still in prototype stage but when released it should come with 6 apps. One of these will show pictures of hot air balloons with a connected shape, to release the balloon the child has to press the corresponding shape.

Things we don’t like about iDiscover App Activity Table

The biggest downside to this is that if the parents don’t own an iPad or a tablet then it becomes just a regular activity table. Also despite the protective screen it does mean letting a young child play with several hundred dollars of technology.

As it is not yet released its unknown whether it will have any sort of guarantee.

Is iDiscover App Activity Table worth the money?

At only $50 and with a good few years’ worth of use as the child ages it’s defiantly worth the money (as long as the parents already own a tablet). It’s a great way to not only entertain a young child but to also help them learn and improve co-ordination.

Where can I buy iDiscover App Activity Table?

The iDiscover App Activity Table should be available in all major toy stores, especially ones aimed at toddlers and babies. It will also be available online on Amazon.

Customer reviews of iDiscover App Activity Table

As it has not yet been released there are no customer reviews but from what parents have said they are looking forward to this being released. The way it combines fun with learning for young children will help with their development while providing hours of fun.

Product Review for Battroborg

The easiest way to explain what these Bottroborgs are,                                           BeFunky_download (3).png
is to say that their some sort of hybrid cross between
“rock ‘em sock ‘em” and a wii. These boxing robots are
very similar to previous battling robot but with one
major difference. Rather than controlling them with
buttons or levers, these little guys work with a wii
style nun chuck controller. So if the player wants
their robot to punch, they have to punch too. The
controller registers the players punch and the robot
will immediately copy the same move.
Battroborgs have many different game modes:

• Training, where a single player can practice their shots and practice controlling the robots movement.

• Tag, for groups of Battrobogs (up to 20) can play together in a game of tag.

• Knockout, where one player has to knock the other Battroborg out.

• Knock down.

• Ring out.

How Much?

Battroborgs are due out in the fall of 2013 and should retail at around $80 for two robots the contrillers and the arena. seperate individual Battroborg robots can be bought for $30.

Who would buy the Battroborg?

There is no set target age group for these as they appeal to people of all ages, from children to adults. They are great fun to battle between friends and between families.

Things we like about Battroborg

What makes these really unusual is that the players actually have to do all the work for the Battroborgs to respond. This means there much more interactive and more engaging toys compared to versions where players just have to push a button. The different features also make these more amusing, as in one mode a scoring system of lights on the robot shows how many hits the robot has taken. Five punches and the robot gets knocked out of the game. When the players Battroborg gets his that players nun chucks will also vibrate letting them know what’s happened. They also work on a 2.4 GHz frequency meaning unlike infra-red controllers there’s no lag, even with up to 10 payers.

Things we don’t like about Battroborg

Despite the fact that they have a solo mode, these really aren’t as fun on their own. So players will need a pair of them and a friend to get the most out of them. Also if they are charged wrong or activated wrong this can cause them to not work correctly so it’s defiantly worth reading all the instructions with them.

It is unknown yet whether or not they will come with any type of guarantee.

Is Battroborg worth the money?

Although rather expensive for a toy that’s not even 10cm big these little guys can provide hours of fun. Whether it’s settling a debate or just for fun, these Battroborgs are sure to be entertaining.

Where can I buy Battroborg?

Battroborg is due to be released in the fall 2013 at some point before Christmas and will be available on Amazon and all major toy stores.

Customer reviews of Battroborg

As yet there are no reviews from customers but children love the idea of boxing robots with nun chuck controllers. While parents seem to love the modern twist it puts on the “rock ‘em sock ‘em” game they grew up with.

Product Review – Zoomer

Zoomer is the new robotic dog from Spin Master                                                     BeFunky_download (2).png
that looks like a Dalmatian puppy. To date it
is the most advanced robo-dog that there’s been.
Zoomer is fully articulated and interactive, and
best of all while looking and acting like a real
puppy, Zoomer is mess free. No trips to the vets
or walks every day, no toilet training, completely
hypoallergenic and no responsibility. With its fully
articulated limbs Zoomer has a full range of motion,
and with its ‘ball paws’ it can be used on any surface.
It can also act and move just like a real playful puppy,
wagging its tail, rolling around and crouching. Its LED
eyes can track movements across the room turn into hearts
when “I love you” is said. Zoomer also have voice activated
commands and can learn when he is played with.

How Much?

This adorable dog robot is due to be released in August and will retail for around $100.

Who would buy Zoomer?

Zoomer is aimed at any one 5 years and older. Although primarily aimed at younger children they also appeal to whole familes.

Things we like about Zoomer

When Zoomer is released it should have around 30 trainable commands, including “here boy”, “play ball”, “speak”, “look at me”, and many more. This is great fun for children who want a pet dog but who are still too young for the responsibility of a real dog. The more that he is played with the more he will learn, he will also learn to recognize his owners. One of the cutest features of Zoomer is that he has sensors on his belly so responds to a belly run by rolling over and showing hearts in his LED eyes. He can also play dead, when he does this he appears to fall over and his eyes become X’s. Zoomer even goes to the toilet on command, lifting his back leg and even making sounds.Just like a real dog, if he’s left alone he will go and explore the room and find things to play with and look at.

Things we don’t like about Zoomer

One downside to Zoomer is that a full charge, that takes 30 minutes, will only give 20-40 minutes of play time. So if a child wants to play they will only be able to play in 20-40 minute segments rather than a long play session. On the upside it can be charged with either a USB or AC meaning you can plug him in almost anywhere.

As yet there is no information on whether Zoomer will come with a guarantee or not.

Is Zoomer worth the money?

Although $100 may seem expensive at first glance, with all of Zoomers features and tricks the price isn’t as bad as it first seems. It’s also much cheaper than the alternative of a real dog.

Where can I buy Zoomer?

Zoomer will be available in all major toy stores and on Amazon from around August.

Customer reviews of Zoomer

As Zoomer hasn’t been released yet there are no reviews from actual owners. However when displayed at the New York Toy Fair children and adults alike were falling in love with this interactive puppy.

Talking Tom

Product Review – Talking Friends’ Talking Tom Toy

Talking Friends is a facial editor and playback app                                             BeFunky_images.png
widely popularly among kids. They can take pictures
of themselves or friends, add all sorts of goofy
features like handlebar mustaches, and then record
messages which the app will play back in a variety
of voices as though the edited face on the screen
was saying it. The app also includes various characters
that play back what they hear in their own voice.
Talking Tom is one of those characters brought to
life in the form of a lovable grey tomcat.

Let’s take a look at some of the features

Talking Tom interacts with the Talking Friends app, though kids can also play with him without the app. He responds to various stimuli, such as touching, petting, and tickling, and will repeat everything kids say in his own voice. Using Talking Tom in conjunction with the Talking Friends app opens up many new possibilities. Kids can interact with his character in the app, and he will respond in real life. He can also interact with other in-app characters and do numerous other activities!

Things We Like About Talking Tom

Talking Tom is a plush kitty that that will talk back when kids play with and talk to him! He is suitable for all ages and is available in a variety of sizes to suit even the smallest children. Talking Tom’s interaction with the Talking Friends app is technically impressive; he sends out a signal that communicates with the phone the app is installed on. This gives kids something to do with their phones other than talking and texting!

Things We Did Not Like About Talking Tom

While all sizes of Talking Tom have the same capability, the larger sizes contain bigger electronic components. Because of this, the larger Toms are not as soft and cuddly as the smaller versions. Tom runs on three AA batteries (which are included), though, considering the amount of power he uses during operation, those batteries may need replacing fairly frequently.

Who Would Buy Talking Tom?

Any parent of a fun-loving child would be drawn to Talking Tom! Prior users of the app will also find the series very appealing.

Out Fit 7 will provide a full refund for undamaged products within 15 days of the purchase or delivery date and will replace any broken or defective products within 2 months free of charge.

Attacknids Review

What more could any boy want than a fighting spider                                 BeFunky_download (1).png
battle robot? The new Attacknids are just that,
remote controlled spider robots that even blast
disks or balls around 10 meters. With fully
synchronised walking actions these things really
do scutter around like their arachnid brothers.
They were originally designed by inventor Jamie
Mantzel from Vermont, who had a dream of making
fighting robots. After failing to gain any luck
with American toy companies, it wasn’t long until
the British toy company ‘Wow! Stuff’ hooked up with
Jamie to produce these Combat Creatures. They are
the first of the Combat Creatures, being fully remote
controlled with 360 degree rotation. Just 10 inches
tall these Attacknids can be played with on their own,
or played against each other and can even be played
in battles by the hundreds.

How much?

When they are released in America they are due to retail at around $100. That includes one Attacknid and its remote control

Who would buy the Attacknid?

While aimed at young boys these Attacknids also seem to be gathering an older fan base as well. The have a minimum age of 3 years old due to the small parts that come off in the heat of battle.

Things we like about the Attacknid

These Attacknids have some really cool features, from their weaponry – a choice of dissector disks, snyper darts and destroyer spheres. The also have Bolt ‘N’ Battle armour, this means that when a robot is directly hit by another their armour explodes off. They also have a Battle Brain, if a robot gets three direct hits it automatically shuts down and “dies”.The best thing is that they have been designed to fight against each other meaning kids can have Attacknid battles against each other. They also have two target sizes, so players can vary the difficulty of the battle.

Things we did not like about the Attacknid

As great as these Attacknids are they do come with a steep price tag and people have complained that the guns can jam easily if they’re not loaded properly.

As it has yet to be released in the US it’s not known what sort of guarantee it will come with.

Is the Attacknid worth the money?

Although $100 may sound like a lot of money these Attacknids are defiantly worth the money. Especially if players have friends who also own one, as playing with them on their own just isn’t half as fun.

Where can I buy theAttacknid?

Attacknids have been released in the UK and parts of Europe but have yet to be released in the US. When they are Attacknids will be available at all major toy stores and from Wow! Stuff’s website. They will also be available on Amazon when they are released. Attacknids are currently available on the UK Amazon.

More customer reviews for the Atacknid

Attacknids are getting great reviews online. Not just from parents of children who love their Combat Creatures but also from adults who have fallen for these battling robots.“This is one of the best toys I’ve seen in a long time. Bought it for my godson for Christmas and I got it out the box to put it all together and make sure it worked. It’s much heavier than I expected and really well put together! Just walking it around is cool but then when you start shooting people and other things its amazing, want to buy one myself, not sure how happy the wife will be though.”
